Built in 1857
by Father Emigdio Ortega, the adobe still stands today
as a testament to the family's many accomplishments.

Mama's 13 children were raised on spicy Mexican food and
equally spicy stories of local pirates and Indians.
They were also taught how their ancestors had come from Spain
to Guadalajara, Mexico and then to Baja, California. Great
Grandfather, José Francisco Ortega, had actually been on the
expedition with Don Gasper Portola, the Spanish explorer credited
with discovering the San Francisco Bay.
