Beef with Hot Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. chuck roast
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 3 tbls. ORTEGA Thick & Smooth Taco Sauce - Medium
  • 2 tbls. brown sugar
  • 2 tbls. vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 package hamburger bun

Directions

Into a kettle place chuck roast, chopped onion, chopped celery, and chopped green bell pepper. Add water. Cover tightly and cook slowly for 2-1/2 to 3 hours, or until tender.

Remove the meat, cool, slice, and return to the cooking liquid. Add ketchup, taco sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, crushed garlic cloves, bay leaf, salt, dry mustard, and chili powder. Cook slowly for 1 hour. Remove the bay leaf; serve with hamburger buns.
