Catalina Taco Salad


  • 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion, divided
  • 1 package ORTEGA Taco Seasoning Mix - Regular, divided
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 ozs. cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 2 cans (2.25-oz.) sliced black olives
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 6 ozs. tortilla chips, lightly broken
  • 8 fl. ozs. Catalina salad dressing


Brown beef in a large skillet along with half of the onion, half of the taco seasoning mix and water. Drain if necessary.

In a large bowl combine cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, olives, remaining onion and remaining taco seasoning mix. Add meat mixture and toss until well mixed.

Sprinkle cumin over salad and add tortilla chips, tossing lightly. Serve with Catalina salad dressing.
