Cheesy Mexican Corn Bread Squares

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 jar (16-oz.) ORTEGA Salsa - Homestyle Recipe (Mild)
  • 1 can (11-oz.) whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 tablespoon to 2 garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbls. sugar
  • 2 tsps. baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbls. butter, melted
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 8 ozs. chedarella or cheddar cheese, shredded*
  • 1/2 cup sliced ripe olives, drained
