Classic Chili


  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 16 ozs. 1 can JOAN OF ARC Chili Style Beans In Chili Sauce
  • 16 ozs. canned tomatoes, cut up
  • 8 ozs. tomato sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
  • cheddar cheese, shredded


In large skillet, brown ground beef, onion and green pepper 'til meat is browned and vegetables are tender. Drain off fat. Stir in tomatoes, beans with sauce, tomato sauce, bay leaf and oregano. Bring to boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Top each serving with cheese. Makes 5 1/2 cups, about 4 servings.
