Crispy Tostadas


  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can ORTEGA Refried Beans
  • 6 flour tortillas
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 cups lettuce, shredded
  • 2 avocados, sliced
  • 3 cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup picante sauce


Combine ground beef, salt, and pepper in a skillet; cook until browned, stirring to crumble the meat. Drain and set aside. In a small saucepan, heat refried beans; set aside. Fry flour tortillas, one at a time, in oil for 30 seconds on each side, or until crisp and golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Spread the refried beans over the tortillas and spoon the ground beef, chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sliced avocados, grated Cheddar cheese, and picante sauce on top.
