Grandma's Gingersnaps

Ingredients

  • 6 tbls. butter or shortening
  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup Grandmas Original Molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

Beat butter with sugar until light. Mix in molasses and egg. Sift dry ingredients and add to wet mixture. Mix well. Chill in freezer 1 hour or in refrigerator 2 hours. Heat oven to 350°F. Roll into 1-inch balls and dip in sugar. Baked on greased baking sheet 10-12 minutes. Cool.



Yield: 3 dozen
