A favorite in Spanish-speaking countries, picadillo is a versatile dish that can be used as a filling or served alongside your favorite latin-tinged side dishes.

Hamburger Picadillo


  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped peeled onion
  • 1 can (14.5-oz.) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup raisins, optional
  • 1 tablespoon ORTEGA Diced Green Chiles
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes


Brown beef and onion in a large skillet; drain. Add tomatoes, raisins, green chiles, salt, cumin, sugar, cinnamon and red pepper flakes; stir well. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

Use as a filling for tacos or burritos or serve with rice and beans.
