Ground turkey takes the place of ground beef in this old standby. Same great flavor without the extra calories.

Light Taco Salad


  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 6 ozs. baked tortilla chips
  • 4 cups shredded lettuce
  • 2 cups diced tomatoes
  • 4 ozs. reduced-fat cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup ORTEGA Salsa - Thick & Chunky (Medium)
  • 1 cup nonfat sour cream


Preheat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Crumble in ground turkey and onion. Cook until meat is browned and onion is translucent; drain if needed. Sprinkle with chili powder, salt and pepper; stir to coat evenly.

To serve, divide tortilla chips among individual serving bowls. Add lettuce. Layer with spiced meat and tomatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and serve with salsa and sour cream.
