Northwestern Bean Chowder


  • 2 whole medium size onion, chopped
  • 3 tbls. vegetable oil
  • 1/2 pound baked ham, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 can 28 oz. B&M Original Baked Beans, (any flavor)
  • 1 can 13.75 oz. chicken broth
  • 2 whole bay leaves, small leaves
  • 3 whole whole cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper


In a saucepan, over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic in vegetable oil until soft. Add ham chunks and cook until lightly browned. Stir in baked beans, chicken broth, bay leaves, cloves and pepper. Simmer over low heat 1 hour.
