Open-Faced Chili Burgers


  • 1 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 8 fl. ozs. tomato sauce
  • 1 package ORTEGA Taco Seasoning Mix - Regular
  • 6 hamburger buns, toasted
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1/2 cup green olives, chopped
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon red chili peppers, sliced


Brown ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet, stirring to crumble; drain. Stir in tomato sauce and taco seasoning mix; simmer for 5 minutes.

Split and toast hamburger buns. Top with the meat mixture. Slice tomatoes and place on top of the meat mixture then sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese.

Bake at 400 degrees for 4 minutes, or until the cheese melts.

Top with shredded lettuce, chopped green olives, sliced onion, and sliced red chili peppers.
