Great dip for fun events. A real crowd pleaser.

Sara's Haystack Dip


  • 1 can (16-oz.) refried beans
  • 1/2 package taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 (16-oz.) container sour cream
  • 2 avocados, pitted peeled and chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 can (4-oz.) ORTEGA Diced Green Chiles
  • 1 can (2.25-oz.) sliced black olives, drained
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 3/4 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 3/4 cups chopped tomatoes
  • 3/4 cups alfalfa sprouts


Combine refried beans, taco seasoning and tabasco sauce in a small bowl. Spread 1/2 inch thick on a serving platter. Top with a layer of sour cream.

Mash avocados with lemon juice and spread this mixture over sour cream.

Combine chiles, olives and green onions; mix well and spread over avocado.

Garnish with cheese, tomatoes and alfalfa sprouts. Serve with your favorite tortilla chips.
