This interpretation of an American classic both breaks and embraces tradition. Embellished with Ortega salsa, it elevates everyday meat loaf from basic to bold. Serve with steamed corn on the cob, spinach salad and a tall glass of Perrier water.

Zesty Meatloaf


  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 cup ORTEGA Salsa - Thick & Chunky (Medium), divided
  • 3/4 cups dry seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon beef bouillon, instant
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten


PREHEAT oven to 350°F.

COMBINE beef, 1/2 cup salsa, breadcrumbs, onion, bouillon, garlic and egg in medium bowl; mix well. Press mixture into 9x5-inch loaf pan.

BAKE for 70 to 75 minutes or until browned and firm. Cool in pan on wire rack for 5 minutes. Serve with remaining salsa.
